Mount Graham Observatory Tours

Eastern Arizona College Discovery Park, the official visitor center for the Mount Graham International Observatory, runs guided Saturday tours from late spring through October. Tours run 9 AM to 5 PM and start and end at Discovery Park in Safford, with an orientation before vans head up the mountain. Guests stop at Columbine Ranger Station and visit the Submillimeter Telescope, the Vatican Advanced Technology Telescope and the Large Binocular Telescope at about 10,500 feet.

Tickets are $75 per person and participants must be 12 or older. Reservations are required (the mountain’s red squirrel refuge requires permits) and registration closes 10 days before each tour. The 2026 season ran May 30 through October 24. 2027 dates have not been announced; the first tour is estimated for late May.
